More than half of young Scots favour independence
A system three poll published on 29th December, 1996, revealed that 52% of 18-25 year olds in Scotland think that their best prospects for the future lie in an independent Scotland, with 31% more looking to a devolved Parliament for Scotland.
The survey found that in general more well-off young people favoured devolution, while those less well-off favoured independence.
System Three questioned 501 people during the first two weeks of December 1996 for their survey.
